Overview of Unit

This unit of competency describes the skills & knowledge required to provide First Aid response, life support, management of casualty/s, the incident and other persons on the scene including other First Aid Personnel, until the arrival of paramedics/ambulance officers or other assistance and basic emergency life support. The First Aider is not expected to deal with complex emergency care situations, only to provide an initial response where First aid is required. However, in accordance with the fundamental development concept of CPR and First Aid units of competency, “application of these skills and knowledge should be contextualized as required to address specific industry, enterprise or workplace requirements and to address specific risks and hazards and associated injuries”.

Qualification

Successful completion of this National Unit of Competency entitles the course particpant to receive a Statement of Attainment indicating the achievement of the relevent unit/s of competency, including all pre-requisite and co-requisite units, and where appropriate, a Contextualisation Statement, describing inclusive training and assessment to address specific risks and hazards and associated injuries determined by specific industry, enterprise and workplace requirements.

• Yr 7 – 10 Safety Awareness Program – duration 90 mins @ $15 per child (use of manikins)
• Yr 11 – 12 Safety Awareness Program – duration 90 mins @ $25 per child (use of manikins)

  • HLTAID002 – Basic Life Support
  • HLTAID003 – First Aid – 14 yrs & over, valid for 3 yrs, duration 6 – 8 hrs @ $125 p/p inc. Certified Certificate
  • HLTAID004 – First Aid (Educational and Childcare Environment) – 14 yrs & over, valid for 3 yrs, duration 6 – 8 hrs @ $165 p/p inc. Certified Certificate.
